Tips to Climb Great League in Season 26
1. Prioritise Energy Management
Energy carries over when you switch Pokémon. If your lead has built 80 energy and you switch out, that energy is preserved when they re-enter. Use this to set up devastating charge move sequences — switch to build energy, then bring back your lead to fire off moves the moment they return.
2. Learn to Bait Shields
Pokémon like Galarian Stunfisk and Forretress have cheap charged moves (Rock Slide, Rock Tomb) that opponents are often forced to shield. Once shields are gone, your more expensive nuke moves (Earthquake, Shadow Ball) become devastating. Always use your cheapest charged move first unless you’re certain you can knock out the opponent without it.
3. Never Blindly Counter-Switch
When your lead is at a disadvantage, don’t automatically switch out. Sometimes staying in to build energy and fire a charge move is better than giving your opponent a free switch advantage. Only switch when your lead truly can’t win the matchup — not just because the typing looks bad.
